Noel grew up in Redwood City, California, was fired from Baskin-Robbins because he couldn't make a round scoop, graduated from San Francisco State, then hitchhiked to Virginia in 1971.
For 35 years he taught technology and reading with the Richmond, Virginia Public Schools. He's been a paper comic for comedians Rodney Dangerfield, Joan Rivers, and a slew of funny and not-so-funny unknowns.
His favorite movie is "My Favorite Brunette" with Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour. He plays a washtub bass, reads Ross MacDonald mysteries, and listens to pre-1936 music. He gets a kick out of everyday irony, and a good surprise or coincidence makes his day.
Noel took his first photos with a Kodak Brownie camera when he was nine. "I have no formal training. I enjoy stumbling upon irony and coincidence. If those moments fail to present themselves, I'll photograph something mundane like...a fork."
His work had been displayed in shows in Virginia, California, D. C., and Connecticut. He also sells microstock photos to http://www.istockphoto.com/joe_potato.
He's married, has one daughter, two dogs, and one lonely fish in a small bowl.
And he still gets up too late for the good morning light.
